Bernice K (Zimmerman) Ferry

Bernice Katherine Ferry (nee Zimmerman), beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt of Lebanon, Ohio died Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at the age of 102. 

She was born in Bellevue, Ohio the daughter of Milton C. and Mildred P. Zimmerman.  She was married to the late, William G. Ferry until his passing in 1995.  Bernice graduated from Bellevue Central High School in 1935 and attended Statzenberger Business College in Toledo, Ohio.  She was a retired Executive secretary having worked at Bellevue Mfg. Co., The Sandusky County Auditor’s office in Fremont and the Sandusky City-Erie County Health Department.

Having been a life-long member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Bellevue, she served on the Church council and in other church positions.

Mrs. Ferry was a charter member of the Lake Erie Firelands Chapter of professional Secretaries International, the Child Guidance Club and a member of Ye Olde Stone Mill Antique Club.  She volunteered for many years in the gift shop of Firelands Hospital.  She was a member of NARVE.  She enjoyed knitting and quilting and was a member of Hayes Ohio Star Quilter’s Guild of Fremont and the National Quilting Association.

Mrs. Ferry is survived by two daughters, Barbara (Charles) Forgey of San Dimas, California and Natalie Robbins of Lebanon, Ohio.  She had two granddaughters, Stephanie Walls, and Anissa (Brett) Murphy, and a grandson, Jason (Katie) Straziuso.  She had seven great grandchildren, Brandon Gentry, Asher, Tate, Tobin, and Basil Mae Murphy, and Harper and Hailey Straziuso.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. 

Bernice was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-six years, her parents, her brother, Milton Zimmerman and granddaughter, Katherine Ann Straziuso.  She will be missed by all who loved her.

Friends will be received on Monday, February 10, 2020 from Noon until a funeral service officiated by her nephew Doug Zimmerman begins at 1 p.m. at Foos & Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue.  Burial will follow at Bellevue Cemetery.
