Anthony Iannello, 85, of Bellevue passed away Thursday, May 20, 2021 at The Willows at Bellevue. He was born May 21, 1935 in Sant’Agata di Militello, Sicily the son of Joseph and Caroline (Proto) Iannello.
Anthony’s father fought in WWI and gained citizenship before migrating to the United States of America, when Anthony was 12 years old. Growing up, in Bellevue, Anthony enjoyed playing pool, bowling, and boxing. In 1954, Anthony obtained the Lightweight Golden Gloves Boxing championship. He retired in 2000, from Bellevue Manufacturing where he was employed for 45 years. The past 22 years, Anthony and Sarah have enjoy splitting their time at their condo in Florida and their home in Ohio. Throughout his later years, Anthony loved playing Euchre with his children and grandchildren and spending time with his great-grandchildren.
In 1957, Anthony married Sarah (Drogo) in St. Clair Shores, Michigan. He is survived by his loving wife, Sarah, along with their three children, Joseph (Sandy Allan) Iannello of Bellevue, Anthony J. (Shelley) Iannello of Bellevue, and Susan (P.J.) O’Lynn of Bellevue; grandchildren: Jason Iannello, Ryan Iannello, Derrick (Heidi) O’Lynn, Ashley Andrews, Jenna (Alex) Malott, Sheena O’Lynn, Shane Iannello, Logan Iannello; 3 great-grandchildren: Maxwell, Markus Anthony, and Millie; a brother, Charlie Iannello of Bellevue; and sister, Josephine Minor of Bellevue.
In addition to his parents, Tony is preceded in death by his brothers: Carmelo “Carl” Iannello, William (Maria) Iannello, Salvatore Iannello; sisters: Rosalia Iannello and Caroline (Anthony) Maltese; sister-in-law, Mary Iannello; and brother-in-law, Philip Minor.
A funeral Mass officiated by Rev. Kyle Gase will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 24, 2021 at Immaculate Conception Church, 231 E. Center Street, Bellevue. There will be a private family burial in Bellevue Catholic Cemetery to follow.
