Anlynne M. Russell-Hansen, age 84 of Fremont, OH, passed away Friday, November 28, 2025, at Parkview Care Center in Fremont. Ann was born June 18, 1941, the daughter of the late Laurel William Russell and Esther Emalynne Wackle Russell.
Ann was a proud 1959 graduate of Clyde High School and went on to earn her nursing degree from the Mercy School of Nursing in Toledo in 1962. She began her career at San Diego County Hospital in 1963 before returning home to serve her community. For 45 years, she worked as an RN at Fremont Memorial Hospital in both staff and administrative roles, including House Supervisor and Director of the Emergency Department. She also led with dedication as Director of Nursing at Community Health Services from 1998 to 2006. Her commitment to service extended beyond her work. She served on the Foundation Board of Community Health Services, on the Council for DD at the School of Hope, and on the boards for First Step Domestic Violence Shelter and Liberty Center. She was also an active member of the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the Mercy Alumni Association.
Above all, Ann was a loving mother and grandmother, and a deeply compassionate nurse who touched countless lives with her care, humor, and no-nonsense wisdom. She loved watching her favorite game shows, cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes (Go Bucks!), and sharing her strong opinions about food and politics—she was proud to be a “food snob" and strong democrat. She hated not being able to reach things, loved being the boss, and firmly believed the world would run better if people simply used common sense. Ann also enjoyed imagining what reincarnation might bring—ideally returning tall and thin with the ability to eat anything she wanted without consequence… or perhaps she’d just come back as a giraffe.
Ann was supported by family, friends, and many caregivers in her final days. Her family would like to extend a special thank you to Pat Reid, Chip Dreier, and the staff at Parkview Care center.
Ann is survived by her children: Amy Leigh Hansen-Kubitz and Matthew Scott Hansen; grandchildren: Rachel Ann (Mike) Garcia, Allyson Nicole Heeter, and Mary Elizabeth Perez; nieces and nephews: Randall and George Snyder, Annette Logan, and Connie Aiello; numerous great-nieces and nephews; and friend and helper Charles “Chip” Dreier.
In addition to her parents, Ann is preceded in death by her sisters: Donna Snyder, Sam VanAllen, and Janet Russell (infant); niece: Lynnette VanFleet; and nephews: Timothy and Russell Snyder.
The North Ohio - Lake Erie Nurse Honor Guard will perform nurse’s honors at 3:45pm followed by a memorial visitation on Friday, December 5, 2025, from 4-8:00pm at Foos Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 504 E.
