Alejandro Steward, Sr.

Alejandro Steward, Sr., age 59 of Fremont, OH, passed away Monday, December 15, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family. Alejandro was born March 5, 1966, in Fremont, the son of the late Frank Steward II and Carolyn (Alejandro) Steward.

Alejandro will be remembered for the joy he found in life’s simple pleasures and the passions he held close. He loved racing, especially sprint cars, and was proud of his time working at Fremont Speedway, where the roar of engines and the racing community felt like home. Alejandro also worked at Northwestern Masonry for 15 years until his retirement. Away from the track, he enjoyed peaceful days spent fishing, hosting BBQ cookouts with family and friends, and getting out on the golf course. Alejandro also had a lifelong appreciation for his Mustangs over the years, each one holding special memories. A devoted sports fan, he cheered faithfully for the Toledo Walleye and the Texas Longhorns. Above all, Alejandro’s easygoing nature and love of good times with those he cared about will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. 

Alejandro is survived by his children: Alejandro “A.J.” (Sarah) Steward, Jr. of Attica, OH, Lesley “Bubbs” (Dawn) Steward of Fremont, Michael (Rachel) Spears of Fremont, and Cassandro “Moe” Steward of Fremont; loving girlfriend, Dawn Emick of Fremont; numerous loving grandchildren; a great-grandson; and sister, Karen Paintin of Greeley, CO.

In addition to his parents, Alejandro is preceded in death by his sister, Kathryn, and brother, Christopher.
