Tommie Vernon Hickle, age 74 of Tiffin, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family Saturday, December 28, 2019. Tommie was born October 2, 1945 in Tiffin, Ohio. He was the son of the late Leroy and Marie (Fogle) Hickle.
On October 2, 1965 he married his high school sweetheart, Judith Swartzmiller in Monroe, Michigan. They recently celebrated 54 years of marriage. Tommie was a lifelong resident of the Bettsville area. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed many trips to Michigan mushroom hunting and knew of all the best fishing holes. He was famous for his homemade noodles and pies. The most important part of his life was being a family man and spoiling his many grandchildren.
Tommie is survived by his wife, Judith (Swartzmiller) Hickle of Tiffin; children: Trudy Yoder of Tiffin, Tommie (Jody) Hickle II of Fremont; and LaVonna (Chris) Schank of Tiffin; grandchildren: Nicole Yoder, Joseph Hickle, Kinsley & Ashlyn Schank; great-grandchildren: Jozlynn Swain, Teghan Hill, and one more on the way; step-granddaughter, Sabrina Fackler; step-great grandchildren: Makayla (Logan) Mahlman, Andrew Fackler, Silas & Ta’liyah Gibson; and step-great-great-grandchildren: Brooklynn & Kendra Mahlman;
In addition to his parents, Tommie is preceded in death by his brothers: Junior, Gene, Jim, Russ, Dale, and David; sisters: Donna, Nancy, and Deliah; and brother-in-law, David Swartzmiller.
