Robert Eugene “Mac” McMurray, 73, of Green Springs passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at The Willows at Bellevue. He was born October 4, 1944 in Tiffin, the son of Eugene G. “E.G.” and Molly (Albright) McMurray.
Robert worked for General Electric in Bellevue before becoming an Electrician for the Ford Motor Co. in Sandusky, where he worked until his retirement in 2007. A United States Army Veteran he served as Staff Sgt. from 1966-1970 in Vietnam. Robert was also a member of the American Legion Post 83, VFW Post 2529, and Amvets Post 17. He enjoyed boating, fishing, gardening, reading, and loved dogs. He was a member of UAW Local 1216.
He is survived by his wife, Linda (Cullen), whom he married October 29, 1971 in Flat Rock; Three sons: Mike (Traci) McMurray of Clyde, Dave (Becky) McMurray of Bellevue, and Jeff (Wendy) McMurray of Clyde; One daughter, Amy (Josh) Lawrence of Bellevue; 12 grandchildren: Melissa (Paul) Koch, Brandon Pumphrey, McKenzie, Breanna and Bryce McMurray, Mason, Maxwell, and Mitchell McMurray, Deacon and Carley Lawrence, Paige and Daxton McMurray; 3 great grandchildren: Carter, Cash, and Tatum Koch; and two sisters: Andrea “Susie” (Bill) Mesaros of Savannah, GA and Sandy (Ed) McMurray of Milan.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Friends will be received on Sunday, February 11, 2018 from 2-6 p.m. at Foos & Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue where the Rosary will be recited at 2 p.m. A funeral Mass officiated by Fr. Jonathan Wight will begin on Monday at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 231 E. Center Street, Bellevue. Burial and military honors will follow at Union Cemetery.
The family request that those attending dress casually as Robert would have wanted. Robert donated his brain to benefit Alzheimer’s Research through Indiana University to help find a cure.
