Robert Birr Obituary

Robert E. Birr, 92, of Bellevue passed away Thursday, June 28, 2018 at The Willows at Bellevue.  He was born December 25, 1925 in Lombard, IL the son of Edward and Gertrude Birr. 

He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II.  He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Bellevue, Society of Photographic Scientist and Engineers, and the Illuminating Engineer Society.  He worked as a Factory Manager of the General Electric Lamp Plant in Bellevue until his retirement in 1986.

He married L. Elizabeth Zinzer on August 4, 1946 in Enid, Oklahoma; Whom preceded him in death in 2012.

Robert is survived by his son, James E. (Karen) Birr of Florissant, MO; 2 grandchildren: Summer and Nichole; and 2 great grandchildren: Payton and Rykerlee; son-in-law, J. Daniel Maguire of Hazelwood, MO.

In addition to his parents, and wife, Bob is preceded in death by a daughter, Janice E. Maguire; and brother, Kendall A. Birr.

Friends will be received on Friday, July 6, 2018 from 4-7 p.m. at Foos & Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue.  A funeral service will begin on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 209 Southwest Street, Bellevue.  Burial will follow at Bellevue Cemetery.
