John A. Burkin

John A. Burkin, age 69 of Clyde, passed away Monday, August 20, 2018 at The Bellevue Hospital. John was born February 13, 1949 the son of the late Rolland “R.J.” and Margaret (Weidle) Burkin.

John earned the nickname "Teddy Bear" in High School and it fit him well. He was a kind, gentle, loyal and loving man dedicated to his family.  John was a self-employed Civil-Structural Engineer and Surveyor.  He was proud to serve the Sandusky Bay and its surrounding areas with passion.   When not working or spending time with family, John enjoyed exercising outdoors and watching football in the fall and winter continuously hoping that his Cleveland Browns could finally one day turn it around. 

John is survived by his wife, Kathleen Burkin, whom he married October 15, 1971 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Clyde; son, Andrew Burkin of Clyde; daughter, Jennifer (Shane) Estep of Bellevue; grandchildren: Brenna and Brady; sisters: Janice (Jim) Yeckley of Fremont, Judy (Joe) Halbeisen of Fremont, and Julie (Jim) Pfeiffer of Medina; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Shirley Burkin.

Friends will be received Friday, August 24, 2018 at Foos Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 504 E. McPherson Hwy., Clyde, OH 43410, from 11:00am until the funeral service begins at 1:30pm.

Memorial donations may be made in John’s honor to The BIG NUT Scholarship Fund or CASA of Erie County.
