Heinz Karl Otto Kath, 87, passed away peacefully in his sleep February 17, 2018 at The Willows in Bellevue.
He was born on Nov. 28, 1930, in Wangerin, Germany, to Arnold and Emma (Zietlow). He worked for his father's electrical business until his father's passing in 1952. He served in the Counter Intelligence Corp. of the US Army for two years. In 1953, he married the love of his life, Helga (Babekuhl) in Obermachtal, Germany.
In 1957, Heinz, along with his wife and daughter Gabriel, immigrated to Bellevue, Ohio. He worked as an electrician for the Nickel Plate Railroad until 1970, when he started his own electrical contracting business. His company completed projects throughout the U.S., allowing him and his family to enjoy several vacations and see quite a bit of the country.
Heinz retired in 1995, after the passing of his wife. He belonged to the Bellevue Elks. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his German Shepherds. He always had a twinkle in his eyes and could tell a pretty good joke or two. He had fun visiting with his buddies and tipping back his Becks beers.
