Harold J. Siesel, 92, of Bellevue, Ohio passed away Saturday, March 17, 2017. He was born January 25, 1926 to Joseph A. & Esther (Ruffing) Siesel. He was a 1943 graduate of Bellevue Senior High School where he excelled in basketball and track. He was captain of the basketball school champions and ran on the school championship relay team. He also coached 2 championship church league teams.
Harold entered the Navy in 1943 where he attended Bucknell University, Wesleyan University & St. Mary’s College while training as a naval airman. He was honorably disc arched in 1945. After that he worked with his father and brother at C.W. Schug’s Hardware in Bellevue as a plumber. He retired from the Ford Motor Company in Sandusky as a pipefitter.
His passions were family, fishing, boating and his country. He was an avid fanatic of Bellevue and Ohio State Sports and the original Cleveland Browns. He loved to travel and spend time with his wife and family. He was known for his winemaking, lengthy storytelling and sense of humor. He could design anything and everything and build it himself. He was an ordinary hard working man with an extraordinary love for family, friends, and life. He was extremely proud of his country and flag and forever grateful for the opportunity to be included on the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. He had been a member of the Bellevue Eagles, the Sandusky American Legion, and many local and trade organizations.
Harold is survived by his children: Steve (Jean) Siesel, Greg (Barb) Siesel, Debra Bernard, & Jay Crookton; daughter-in-law, Linda Siesel; brother, Clayton (Eileen) Siesel, sister, Barbara VanHorn; grandchildren: Ryan, Jennifer, Karin, Donnie, Bret, Derek, Deven, Skip, Heather, Amanda, Lauren, & Amy. He had 14 great –grandchildren and one due in May.
Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Crookton) Siesel; son, Michael Siesel; brother, Charles Siesel, and sister, Mary Kay Stock.
At his request, there will be no funeral services. A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 1-4 p.m. at Foos & Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue. Please share a funny story but don’t take as long as Harold always did.
