Eugene P. Martin, 92, of Bellevue passed away Thursday, April 5, 2018 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky. He was born September 8, 1925 the son of John C. and Rufina (Ruffing) Martin.
A World War II veteran, Gene served in the United States Navy from 1943-1946. Gene, an electrician by trade, worked for many years at Central Soya as the Superintendent of Maintenance and Power, and served 16 years in city government as acting mayor, president of council, council at large, ward councilman, and acting safety service director. He also served 25 years as a volunteer for the Bellevue Fire Department. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Eagles Aerie 490, and a life member of the VFW Post 1238.
He is survived by his four children: Paula (Jerry) England of Columbus, Kathryn (Gerard Jendrzejak) Martin of Orlando, Greg (Laurie) Martin of Bellevue, and Sharon (Martin Persinger) Martin of Bellevue; grandchildren: Jennifer (Jonathan) Sommer, Emily (Brian) Malinsky, Ross Martin, Garrett Licata, and Sarah Licata; great-grandchildren: Bellamy, Sloane, Quinn, Reese, and Nora; siblings: John Martin, Robert Martin, Werner Martin, Mary Young, and Carolyn Specht; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine N. (North), whom he married June 14, 1947 in Bellevue.
Friends will be received Sunday, April 8, 2018 from 3pm until time of service at 4pm at Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Pl., Bellevue, OH 44811.
