Derek Sampsell

Derek Sampsell, 60, of Sandusky passed away Saturday, September 28, 2019 at the Metro Health Medical Center, Cleveland.  He was born April 16, 1959 in Fremont, Ohio the son of Edward R. and Jeanette J. (Adams) Sampsell.

Derek was a member of Laborers Union 480 in Sandusky and retired in 2013.  Derek was a member of the Huron Eagles Club.  He loved the outdoors especially the beach, sunshine and greenery.  He enjoyed visiting Sheldon’s Marsh taking in the views of the plants, lake, and beach.  He loved watching football and was an avid Browns and Buckeyes fan. Derek will be remembered for his compassionate, generosity and heart of gold toward others.

He is survived by the love of his life, his daughter: Brooke (Mark) Letson of Bellevue; their children: Jayce and Adelynn Letson.  His mother, Jeannette Sampsell; brother, Dean (Amy) Sampsell; Nephew and niece, Tyler (Katie) Sampsell and Holly (Brad) Walker; and his dearest friend, Deb Hasenmeier and their dog, Maxwell.

Derek is preceded in death by his father, Edward Sampsell.

Friends will be received on Thursday, October 3, 2019 from 11 a.m. until a memorial service begins at 1 p.m. at Foos & Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue.  Memories and condolences may be shared at www.foosfuneral.com
