David Hafner

David Hafner, age 73, Attica, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2017 at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky. David was born October 20, 1944 in Bellevue, the son of the late Hermon Hafner and Dorothy (Martin) Riffle.

David was very supportive of his grandchildren’s activities. He loved being outdoors especially mowing and gardening. He was known to many by his nickname, “Cricket.” He was a member of the Eagles post 490 and The Breakfast Club.

David is survived by his children: Chris (Liza) Hafner of New Washington, Amy (Todd) Carger of Greenwich, and April Hafner of Circleville; grandchildren: Paityn and Hayden Hafner and Eric and Emma Bell; sisters: Barbara McCourt of Castalia, and Vaughn Riffle of Republic; and his significant other, Susan Saleker.

In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his wife, Joanne (Elmlinger) whom he married April 29, 1967; and father and mother-in-law, Charles and Mildred Elmlinger.

Friends will be received Thursday, January 4, 2018 from 3-7pm at Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue, OH. The Rosary will also be recited on Thursday at the Funeral Home at 2:30pm. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, January 5, 2018 at 10 am at St. Gaspar del Bufalo, 16209 Co Rd 46, Bellevue, OH. Burial will follow at St. Sebastian Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made in David’s honor to the Bismark Senior Center.
