Cornelius James “Jim” Rospert, age 84 of Bellevue, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. Jim was born February 15, 1935 in Bellevue the son of the late Cornelius and Margaret (Driscoll) Rospert.
Jim was a truck driver for many years after serving in the United States Army for two tours in Korea between 1959 and 1963. He was also a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 490, VFW post 1238, and the American Legion post 46.
Jim was a recipient of the prestigious Carnegie Medal for his heroic acts that occurred on May 14, 2003.
Jim is survived by his wife, Mary (Hammersmith) Rospert, whom he married June 13, 1964 in St. Alphonsus in Norwalk; sons: Gary (Lisa) Rospert of Silver Lake, and Dennis (Amy) Rospert of Bellevue; daughters: Denise (Eric) Bullion of Bellevue, and Darlene (Tom) George of Bellevue; grandchildren: Cory (Renee) Rospert, Kyle (Jacqueline) Rospert, Lucas Rospert, Tyler Rospert, Connor Rospert, Abby Bullion, Molly Bullion, Hannah Bullion, Jenna Bullion, and Samantha George; great-grandchildren: Parker and Mason; and siblings: Donn Rospert of Bellevue, Kenn (Charlet) Rospert of Bellevue, Noreen Furlong of Bellevue, and Patricia Gies of Stow.
In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Terry Rospert; brother-in-law, James Furlong; and nephew, James Bryan Furlong.
Friends will be received Sunday, August 11, 2019 from 3-7pm at Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Pl., Bellevue, OH 44811. A rosary will be held before visitation at 2:30pm. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, August 12, 2019 at 11:00am at Immaculate Conception Church, 231 E. Center St., Bellevue, OH 44811. Burial with military honors will follow at Bellevue Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made in Jim’s honor to Immaculate Conception School, Stein Hospice, or the Wounded Soldiers Fund.
