Carl Raymond Klein, 78, of Bellevue passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at Primrose Retirement Living in Mansfield. He was born February 21, 1940 in Bellevue the son of Edgar and Peggy (Kochendorfer) Klein.
Carl was a 1958 graduate of Gilmour Academy, and a 1963 graduate of Heidelberg College. Upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force serving from 1964-1967. He then attended the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, graduating in 1968. Carl worked at Hoyne Funeral Home in Dayton before returning to Bellevue to work at Klein Steel as a purchasing agent. In 1988 he began working at Foos Funeral Home in Bellevue and Foos – Klein Funeral Home in Clyde, where he would work until retiring in 2017.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Kiwanis Club, the Bellevue Elk’s, and the Former Club Amer-Ital. He was also a member of the Firelands Funeral Directors Association; and the Clyde Eagles and Moose.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Anne (O’Brien), whom he married April 7, 1972 in Dayton; two sons: John Scott (Donna) Klein of Lakewood, OH, and Dan (Meagan) Klein of Tiffin; 5 grandchildren: Madison, Marshall, Molly, Mike, and Tommy; Aunt, Mary Lou Klein; brother and sister’s in law: Mike (Jane) O’Brien, Tommy (Sharon) O’Brien, Terry (Kay) O’Brien, Danny (Colleen) O’Brien, Mary O’Brien, Nancy (Bill) McGuire, Patty (Jim) Hall, Kathy (Joe) Smith, and Maureen (Dave) Patten; Numerous nieces and nephews; and his loyal companion, Barclay.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his uncle, Bob Klein; Aunts: Marge (Earl) Danklefsen, Winnifred (Hobart) Wagner; brother-in-law, John D. O’Brien; sister-in-law’s, Jane Hosty and Mary Tee Hoyne; and Mother and Father-in-law, Dot and Jack O’Brien.
Friends will be received on Friday, August 31, 2018 from 4-7 p.m. at Foos & Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue. A funeral Mass will begin on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 231 E. Center Street, Bellevue. Burial will follow at Bellevue Cemetery.
