Beverly Ann DeBlase, 85, of Bellevue passed away Sunday, August 18, 2019 at the Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky. She was born April 12, 1934 in Bellevue the daughter of Harold J. and Helen L. (Orwig) Long.
Mrs. DeBlase devoted her life to education and the children of Bellevue. She was principal of York Elementary School until her retirement in 2008. Throughout her life she volunteered her time to various boards and committees in Bellevue most notably: she served on the Bellevue Board of Education, St. John’s Nursery School Board, The Bellevue Hospital Foundation Board as well as the Board of Trustees for the Bellevue Public Library. For her achievements and devotion to Bellevue she was elected into the Bellevue Halls’ of Excellence in 2008. She was a member of St. John’s Church.
She is survived by her husband, Samuel DeBlase whom she married on April 5, 1952 in Angola, Indiana; three daughters: Faith (Mike) Weber, Laura (Steve) Thompson, and Cathy (Ed) Nasonti, all of Bellevue; 6 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sister, Donna Laub of Bellevue; and half-sisters, Vernetta Vallimont and Janice Harp.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Arden Long; and twin sons, Kevin and Keith DeBlase in December 1953.
A memorial service will begin on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 209 Southwest Street, Bellevue, Ohio 44811. Foos & Foos Funeral Service, Bellevue is in care of arrangements.
