Bernice L. Close

Bernice L. Close, 86, formerly of Bellevue and more recently of Kentucky passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2017 in Eminence, KY. She was born May 17, 1931 in Bellevue the daughter of Elvin Gilbert and Bernice (Stout) Ferres.

Bernice was a 1949 graduate of Bellevue High School. She enjoyed reading in her later years and retired from Bellevue Junior High School where she worked in the cafeteria.

She is survived by her children: Jeffery A. (Arlene Keefe) Close Sr. of Bellevue, Shirley E. (Michael, Sr.) Conner of Eminence, KY, Scott A. (Susan Sprau) Close, of Crestwood, KY; step-children: Thomas J. (Connie) Close of Bellevue, Arthur (Crystal) Close Jr., of Marengo, OH, William M. Close of Mesa, AZ; and Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; and a brother William E. Ferres and sister, Ruth (DeVer) Griffith.

In addition to her parents, She is preceded in death by her husband Arthur Close Sr., whom she married Aug. 30, 1952; step-children: Judith Mae Butler; 9 brothers and sisters; and her granddaughter, Rhonda (Close) Beckett.

Friends will be received on Sunday, October 15, 2017 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at Foos Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 504 E. McPherson Highway, Clyde. A funeral service will begin on Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2500 North Reynolds Road, Toledo, OH
