Dennis Jude Brandal, 65 of Bellevue Ohio passed away March 12, 2024 at Firelands Hospital surrounded by his family after many struggles with his health over the past year.
Dennis was born July 21, 1958 in Bellevue Ohio to Elmer H. & Rita L. (Didion) Brandal and graduated in 1976 from Bellevue High School. He married the love of his life, Sue (Andrews) Brandal of Bellevue on April 9, 1988.
Denny is survived by his wife and his children Jackie Brandal of Columbus and Jude Brandal of Bellevue.
Denny was preceded in death by his parents, son Bradley Brandal, grandparents, numerous aunts & uncles.
Denny loved EVERYTHING TRAINS and was involved with the Mad River & NKP Railroad Museum from its inception and was a lifetime member, Trustee, Past Archivist, Past President and Secretary. He loved working on each and every project with his museum family. When they were together, the work they did on restoration was as much fun being together as it was rewarding for bringing historical items back to life. He was a past Cub Scout Master, a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 490, the Bellevue Knights of Columbus where he enjoyed working the Friday fish dinners during Lent and the camaraderie of the members there; the Bellevue Police Auxiliary before joining the Bellevue Police Department in 1987-2013 when he retired as Chief of Police. Denny most recently and reluctantly (as he enjoyed his NCEMS family) retired, due to his health, from North Central EMS (Fisher-Titus) where he had been the Transportation Supervisor and Mental Health Transportation driver for the past 10 years.
Denny was a gentle soul. His over-the-top attention to observation and detail allowed him to see humor in most any situation and he will be remembered for that quick wit and ability to make everyone laugh; a trait that will be missed and cherished by everyone who knew him. He loved his family and children fiercely and was especially proud of the young, loving and caring adults Jackie and Jude have grown to become.
Friends will be received on Monday, March 18 from 3 -7 p.m. at Foos & Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue. A funeral Mass will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Church, 231 E. Main Street, Bellevue. Burial will follow at Bellevue Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his honor to The Mad River & NKP Railroad Society Inc. 233 York Street, Bellevue OH 44811 or Knights of Columbus Scholarship Fund c/o James Wolfe, 2020 County Road 292, Bellevue OH 44811.
