Althea M. Egan, 92, of Bellevue, died May 5, 2012, at Sunrise SeniorLiving in Gahanna, Ohio. A lifelong resident of Bellevue, she hadrelocated to the Columbus area in February to receive medical care andto be close to her daughter, Lenore (Egan) Brown. Althea was born July 7, 1919, to C.M. Kern and Alma Kern, who ownedand operated Kern Dairy in Bellevue for many years.
She was a graduateof Bellevue High School and the University of Toledo, where she wasmanaging editor of the school newspaper.
She worked in the draftingdepartment in the Bellevue office of GTE for many years, retiring in1981. Althea was a member of St. Paul’s UCC in Bellevue.
In addition to her daughter Lenore, Althea is survived by herson-in-law Max Brown, granddaughter Michelle Brown and her husband DanHostetler, great-grandson Owen Hostetler, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford O. (Cy) Egan, whodied in 1968, her parents, C.M. and Alma Kern, two sisters, Ardyth(Kern) Geigel and Alma (Kern) Acks, and sisters-in-law Hazel Egan,Ruth Egan and Mae Fehl.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 10, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. atFoos & Foos Funeral Home, 151 Yorkshire Place,
Bellevue, with burial to follow at Bellevue Cemetery.
